Meiosis-specific telomere protein complex (MTCP) provides telomere attachment to the inner nuclear envelope membrane during prophase I. Despite their function in telomere attachment MTCP proteins lack sequence homology between mammals and fungi suggesting that, the MTC might have different evolutionary origins. Therefore, my aim is to understand the evolutionary history of mammalian MTCP.
