Nucleocytoplasmic junction in germ cells

During final differentiation to mature fertilization competent sperms, the haploid spermatids undergo a typical morphological transformation that includes a profound nuclear compaction and reshaping from round to elongated. Although this process is key determinant of male fertility, the underlying mechanisms are hardly understood. I try to figure out the specific function of selected components of the nucleocytoplasmic junction in the formation of a functional, regularly shaped sperm head.
