Teaching
We, the lecturers of "Department of Animal Ecology and Tropical Biology" (Zoology III), are involved in teaching for Bachelor and Master's degree of Biology as well as in the training of students pursuing a teacher's degree. Through lectures, exercises, seminars, and excursions, as organism-oriented biologists, we provide fundamental knowledge about the forms, structures, and functions of animals, as well as make you familiar with the diversity of our fauna. The main focus of research and teaching in this chair is Ecology, with a particular interest in the temperate climate and the tropics.
It is important to us that you get to know the practical principles of ecological field work in addition to the necessary theoretical basics, as well as to know how to plan, evaluate, and interpret the results. In many cases, you have the opportunity to work on current research projects and investigate within the framework of the thesis.
In the Master 's Program, you will deepen your ecological knowledge. In the winter semester the program will be dominated by theoretical work such as lectures and seminars, while in the summer semester by field work. For the Master Thesis, you have enough time to investigate on a scientific question intensively.
