Research Interest

The aim of my PhD studies is the further characterisation of the dorsal clock neurons of Drosophila melanogaster. During my master thesis I was able to characterise the lateral posterior neurons (LPN) in their morphology and in their postsynaptic partners as well their neuropeptides. I would like to work further with these results to understand their role in the circadian system according to temperature sensing and sleep promoting. The DN are forming the biggest neuronal cluster of the circadian clock in D. melanogaster and at the same time they are the most inhomogeneous ones. By using immunohistochemistry and behavioural experiments I would like to understand better their role in the circadian system.
