Research interests

I am interested in the effects of land-use change on biodiversity with a focus on arthropod communities. Since the ongoing global urbanization in the course of land-use change is one of the main drivers of the current biodiversity loss, I focus on urban habitats in my research. In this context, I would like to analyze the influence of connectivity and fragmentation of habitats in urban areas and their influence on the functional biodiversity of arthropods. At the same time, I am interested in the phenology of arthropod communities of urban green spaces and how the management of the green spaces affects the communities.

I would like to contribute to a better understanding of the ecological processes in urban green spaces and develop suitable management concepts for the conservation and promotion of biodiversity in cities. In urban areas in particular, in addition to the biological importance of green spaces for nature conservation, their multifunctionality, e.g. for recreation and climate protection, must also be given sufficient consideration in exchange with practical stakeholders.
