Electron Cryo Microscopy Facility

Electron cryo microscopy has become the method of choice for structure determination of large (>150 kDa) biological complexes. This requires thousands of micrographs that show the purified complexes in all different orientations.  The facility provides instrumentation for sample preparation of vitrified complexes and access to automated high-resolution data acquisition with a G3 Titan Krios electron microscope. Typical data acquisition sessions are between 1 and 3 days and enable structure determination in the 2-4 Å range depending on the structural homogeneity of the sample.
