Abstract
The digitalized medicine will influence the future of patient therapy and diagnostics, including the ways
of patient communication with the medical doctor, the medical device, and subsequently drug
production. All these fields are strongly influenced by the materials and the material related
technologies. If we want to establish all the dreams of the digitalized medicine we should at the same
time carefully look on the need in the testing, characterization and monitoring of the applied materials,
parts, and devices. The talk will illuminate the need of new material characterization technology for
individualized surface modifications, nanomaterials as drug delivery vehicles, new production
technologies, like additive manufacturing, and sensor technologies as basic building blocks for a
digitalized medicine.
